The Nomos Club Campus is a relatively accessible luxury watch. It is hand built in the tiny town of Glashutte Germany. The watch features their in-house Alpha caliber movement.
Nomos as a brand is loved in the watch community. Many knowledgeable collectors believe it is the best bang for your buck mechanical watch there is. To me, in a field filled with the obvious contenders such as Rolex, Omega, and Grand Seiko, Nomos offers a different approach.
With colorful dials and bold designs, each watch offers a unique personality. Wearing a Nomos is a fun experience. While other brands take themselves very seriously, Nomos is the playful one.
With this playful attitude in mind, the brand still holds true to their heritage. This morning I was listening to Hodinkee Radio, a podcast that I highly recommend, which featured Jean-Claude Biver. Jean-Claude Biver is a legend in the mechanical watch industry. Mr. Biver has bounced around between Swiss watch brands and has had a significant impact on the Swiss watch market.
Jean-Claude Biver explains how in order for a company to be successful, it has to understand their heritage and continue it. Nomos is a prime example. While Nomos watches have a different design philosophy than many other modern brands, they know their clientele and produce amazing timepieces. The in-house movements that Nomos creates are of the utmost quality. Usually, companies with similar quality movements charge large sums of money. Nomos watches, which are still not inexpensive, are much more accessible.
I purchased this Nomos Club Campus a couple months ago and it has been on my wrist for the majority of the time I have owned it. The slim profile and beautiful dial make this a perfect daily wearer.
Suitable to be worn with jeans and a t-shirt or khakis and a button down you cannot go wrong.
Everyone should have a nice watch or two and it is hard to find a better value than the Nomos Club Campus. It suits my needs perfectly. I was also considering a vintage Universal and an Oris diver. This Nomos swept the rug with the competition and I had to pull the trigger.
