This is the best Bluetooth speaker for daily use I have encountered. It is simple and powerful! There are a two metrics that I look at when considering a speaker. Sound quality is first and most important and second is functionality/usability.
Lets first discuss the SoundLinks sound quality. I happen to be a fan of Bose products. Some audiophiles will tell you that they are not as “accurate” as say a Sennheiser or Bang and Olufsen. I can understand and appreciate the engineering that went into these other speakers, but in daily use, I can not find a real difference between them.
So then why stick with Bose over say a Bang and Olufsen speaker. Simple, they are trustworthy and built to last. I received a Bang and Olufsen Beolit 12 for my bar mitzvah. I could not wait to fire this thing up! That was until I realized I had to download an app, connect it to the wifi, and turn the speaker back on every time my phone disconnected. I have since used Bang and Olufsen speakers and had no issues. However, I have never had an issue with a Bose speaker or headphone.
This SoundLink Revolve+ model has great sound quality. For a portable, bluetooth speaker I could not ask for anything else. At low volumes lyrics are clear and the bass is under control. Listening to a podcast or taking a phone call is crisp and there is no background noise.
From the size of speaker you would not expect it to get as loud as it does. This speaker is not going to drown out your singing if you are sitting outside like a car stereo will but the music will spread and everyone will enjoy!
Next we have to discuss functionality. There are both software and hardware features on this speaker that are seriously impressive. First is the strap. When you are charging the speaker or have it on your desk it folds over and is completely out of the way. When it is time to get up and move the handle is comfortable and extremely durable. It feels like it was made to last for a very long time.
The rubber bumpers around the top and bottom serve as sound detonation as well as drop protection. Considering the speaker is made from a solid piece of aluminum you do not have to worry about damaging this speaker. Along with being rugged the speaker is also water-resistant which makes it perfect for playing music by the pool or for dancing in the rain!
The microphone on top allows you to make crisp phone calls. The microphone is so sensitive that you will be able to talk from across the room without the person on the other end even noticing. This is one of the features that made this speaker so appealing to me. Also, the “multi-function” button allows you to access Siri, answer a call, or end a call. This allows for more freedom as you do not need to have your phone right next to you.
There is an optional charging cradle that allows you to rest the speaker on this pot and the speaker will charge. I highly recommend purchasing this cradle. If you do not want to get this you simply plug in a micro-usb cord to the back of the speaker. It does not interfere with the functionality of the speaker in any way.
The battery boosts an impressive 16 hour battery life. While I have not tested to see if it actually lasts for an entire 16 hours. In my daily use I have never had a problem, even if I forget to charge it at night. You will not have any issues regarding battery life.
Another sneaky feature that may not necessarily first come off as important is having a tripod mount on the bottom of the speaker. Being able to use any universal tripod mount to have the speaker standing is especially nice for outdoor events or dance parties inside. Definitely a great addition.
